Brand: Laura Thompson Acupuncture

Laura already had a well-formed idea when she asked me to create a logo for her independent acupuncture practice, but she just needed help executing it. She was looking for a clean, professional logo based on Chinese carved jade cicadas. Cicadas lie dormant underground for years before emerging in a burst of life, and Laura wanted to evoke this powerful transformation metaphor in her Traditional Chinese Medicine practice.

She kindly provided me with reference photos, lots of thoughts on the topic and even a song to listen to while I worked on the logo! With so much material to work from, the first drafts of this logo came easily, and we quickly narrowed it down to a final version. The soothing jade greens of the reference photos provided straightforward inspiration for this projects colour palette. Working with this client was a dream, and together we came up with a brand identity that projects clinical professionalism, while being simultaneously grounded in a sense of peaceful nature and tradition.
